“Dogs Playing Poker” is a series of paintings by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge. The first painting, titled “Poker Game,” was created in 1894, followed by a series of sixteen paintings commissioned in 1903 by Brown & Bigelow to advertise cigars. The series depicts anthropomorphized dogs engaging in various human activities, most famously playing poker. Read more about the series here.
